Welcome to St. Stephen’s Nursery School, and thank you for considering us as your child’s preschool. Our main focus is to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond while having fun and providing a wonderful experience for both you and your child.
The mission of St. Stephen’s Nursery School is to nurture the social, emotional, spiritual and academic development of the young child within a play-based environment. Through the use of the Creative Curriculum we are able to conduct 6 different unit studies. During the unit studies children have the opportunity to learn and play with his/her peers in a variety of ways. Our classes work on self-help skills, small and large motor skills, letter and number recognition, communication, and several other cognitive and social skills developmentally appropriate for their age. We cover these areas using a variety of methods to ensure that learning is always fun and interesting for your child. Various activities, both teacher led and student initiated, will allow for your child to grow into an independent preschooler.
We are looking forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year! Communication between school and home is extremely important to each child’s success, so we encourage you to contact us at any time if you have any concerns regarding your child. Each month you will receive a snack calendar to let you know about our weekly themes, class activities, and important events in the classroom as well as a whole school newsletter. We will also send all correspondence home in your child’s folder via his/her book bag, so please check it daily! To keep parents informed about their child’s progress, assessments are done three times a year, followed by Parent Teacher Conferences as requested or needed.
We know that choosing a preschool for your child is a very important decision for the entire family. We have additional information located on the website to further assist you in your decision. We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you and your child as they learn, grow and flourish throughout this upcoming school year!
